Role Snapshot: Position: Adjunct Faculty Member, Video Game Development Location: Remote, with in-person teaching requirements at St. Edward's University campus in Austin, TX Compensation: Competitive salary Start Date: Immediate openings available Job Description: We are seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach two courses in our Coding for Non-Coders Certificate program: VGAM 1310 Beginning Coding for Non-Coders (offered both fall and spring semesters) VGAM 2321 Intermediate Coding for Non-Coders (offered in the spring semester) Course Descriptions: VGAM 1310 Beginning Coding for Non-Coders covers the basics of logic, computer literacy, and software creation. Students initially learn programming concepts using spreadsheets, and then move to Python to create simple games, automate tasks, and solve real-world problems. VGAM 2321 Intermediate Coding for Non-Coders builds on concepts introduced in Beginning Coding for Non-Coders by exploring client/server models, databases, and simple app design and development. Prerequisite: VGAM 1310 or COSC 1305. Key Responsibilities: Teach two courses in the Coding for Non-Coders Certificate program Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments Provide guidance and support to students in a fast-paced and dynamic learning environment Collaborate with Video Game Development faculty to develop and refine course curriculum Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the Video Game Development program Essential Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with significant experience in video game development, user experience design, or computer programming Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner in a fast-paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary team Significant professional experience in three or more of the following areas: Python scripting C# scripting SQL Backend Programming Database Structures Web Development HTML5 Mobile development Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the university level Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching in a higher education setting Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: As an adjunct faculty member at St. Edward's University, you will have the opportunity to: Develop your teaching skills and expertise Contribute to the development of our Video Game Development program Collaborate with a diverse and talented team of faculty and staff Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops and conferences Work Environment and Company Culture: St. Edward's University is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
