Architecture is a shared responsibility within our engineering organization.This role is not a centralized gatekeeper for architecture, but rather a technical leader who collaborates with teams to shape the architectural direction of the portfolio.You will also play a key role in driving innovation across the organization, including the thoughtful adoption of AI-driven capabilities, modern cloud architectures, and interoperable healthcare technologies.This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex systems problems, influencing architecture across teams, and helping organizations scale through strong technical foundations.ResponsibilitiesLead Architectural StrategyDefine and evolve technical architecture across the EverHealth product portfolioTranslate business goals into technical strategy and architectural roadmapsGuide platform modernization efforts including evolving scale, AI adoption, system interoperability, and platform capabilitiesDrive Scalable Platform DesignDesign secure, scalable, and highly available distributed systemsEstablish patterns for performance, resilience, and maintainabilityGuide teams in adopting modern architectural patterns such as API-first architectures, event-driven systems, and microservicesEnable Healthcare InteroperabilityArchitect systems that support healthcare interoperability standards including FHIR and HL7Ensure architectural approaches align with regulatory expectations and healthcare data standardsLead AI-Forward InnovationHelp integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into core product workflowsPartner with engineering teams to leverage LLMs, automation, and intelligent workflow supportEnsure AI capabilities are implemented in ways that are secure, scalable, and aligned with customer needsProvide Technical LeadershipPartner with existing architects, principal engineers, and engineering leaders across EverHealthFacilitate architecture and design reviews across teamsMentor senior engineers and technical leaders in system design and architectural thinkingHelp teams align on shared architectural patterns and platform capabilitiesPartner Across the OrganizationWork closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations leadersParticipate in strategic planning and roadmap developmentAlign architecture decisions with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business prioritiesTechnology EnvironmentCloud Infrastructure: AWSArchitectural Patterns: API-first systems, distributed services, event-driven architecturesIntegration Technologies: REST APIs, FHIR, HL7, EDI integrationsPrimary Languages: Python, Java, .NET (VB, C#)Data Platforms: relational and distributed data systems supporting high-volume transactional workloads including MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres, MSSQL, and RedshiftSecurity & Compliance: HIPAA-compliant systems and secure healthcare data handlingExperienceGeneral10+ years of software engineering experience including .NET and T-SQL proficiency5+ years in a software architecture roleExperience influencing architecture across multiple teams or product linesPrior experience as a staff engineer, principal engineer, or senior architect strongly preferredTechnical ExpertiseDeep experience designing cloud-native systems (AWS preferred)Strong understanding of distributed systems, API architecture, event-driven systems, data architecture, and reliability engineeringExperience leading architectural decisions across complex systems and teamsDemonstrated experience designing and delivering production systems, not only reviewing architecture or documentationHealthcare Technology (Strongly Preferred)Experience with interop formats such as FHIR, HL7, EDIExperience with healthcare billing, clearinghouses or payer integrationsAI & Modern EngineeringExperience applying AI and LLM technologies within software productsProficiency in leveraging AI in operations and developer productivityLeadership SkillsAbility to influence technical decisions across teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience facilitating technical design reviews and architectural decision-makingWhereThe EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. The annual base salary range for this position is $190,000 - $205,000 USD Per Year.
