ETL Developer / Data Warehouse Architect

Location: Remote (Must work EST hours)
Onsite Requirement: Albany, NY – Minimum one week per year
Duration: 1 Year (Possible extension up to 5 years)
Schedule: 40 hours/week | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET

Role Overview

Seeking a highly skilled ETL Developer / Data Warehouse Architect to support the design, modernization, and expansion of a secure enterprise data analytics environment.

This role combines hands-on ETL development with data architecture responsibilities, supporting audit analytics, fraud detection initiatives, business intelligence reporting, and secure inter-agency data exchanges within a government environment.

The ideal candidate will have advanced SQL expertise, strong dimensional modeling experience, and deep knowledge of enterprise ETL environments.

Core Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Warehouse Development
• Review and modernize existing ETL processes and ingestion pipelines
• Architect scalable enterprise data warehouse frameworks
• Design systems to ingest structured and unstructured datasets
• Implement and migrate ETL environments including fact and dimensional models
• Develop dimensional models aligned with user story requirements
• Build enterprise data models supporting audit analytics and fraud detection
• Optimize warehouse performance for reporting and analytics use cases

ETL & Data Integration
• Develop and maintain ETL processes integrating:
• Flat files
• Direct database connections
• XML transactions
• External data feeds
• Implement ETL pipelines using tools such as Qlik, Informatica, or equivalent
• Perform SQL and PL/SQL development for complex transformations
• Support ingestion of new and acquired datasets
• Maintain secure data interchange systems
• Ensure secure transfer and validation of inter-agency data exchanges

Business Intelligence & Reporting Enablement
• Support Tableau and Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) dashboard development
• Design ETL processes optimized for Tableau reporting environments
• Assist with Tableau Server administration (preferred)
• Translate business user stories into analytics-ready datasets
• Ensure BI performance, data accuracy, and reporting integrity

Data Validation & Analytics Support
• Partner with auditors and analytics teams to validate datasets
• Troubleshoot transformation issues and data discrepancies
• Support data quality initiatives
• Apply statistical techniques to support fraud detection and performance analytics
• Develop analytics-ready datasets

Infrastructure & Security Alignment
• Assist in building secure data analytics infrastructure
• Support ETL environment migration
• Align pipelines with governance and security standards
• Ensure compliance with audit and fraud prevention protocols

Minimum Qualifications (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field
(Master’s or Doctorate preferred but not required)
• 4+ years developing and maintaining data interchange systems integrating:
• Flat files
• Direct database connections
• XML transactions
• 4+ years experience with ETL tools (Qlik, Informatica, or equivalent)
• 4+ years of data modeling experience (dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact tables)
• 4+ years building ETL environments supporting analytics
• 4+ years of advanced SQL development

Preferred Qualifications
• Python scripting experience
• Tableau Server administration
• Experience gathering business requirements and validating data
• Formal statistics coursework or applied statistical experience
• PL/SQL development experience
• Experience building ETL environments optimized for Tableau
• Government data analytics experience
• Experience supporting audit or fraud analytics initiatives
• Experience with secure data governance and compliance environments
