Environmental Engineer – Entry Level (Hybrid)

Barr Engineering Co. is seeking an environmental engineer to join their Minneapolis office. The role involves supporting the Assessment and Remediation business unit with projects focused on investigating and remediating contaminated sites, requiring both fieldwork and project coordination. Responsibilities Apply foundational engineering principles to support site investigations, environmental sampling, and data collection Assist in the analysis of environmental data and contribute to the development of remediation approaches Help coordinate field activities and logistics, including contractor oversight and equipment preparation Assist in tracking project progress and documenting key milestones Contribute to evaluating site conditions and identifying potential solutions to environmental challenges Learn how to apply regulatory knowledge and scientific reasoning to real-world scenarios Produce clear field notes, chain-of-custody and data summaries, figures, and draft report sections/emails for review Provide concise status updates to project managers and stakeholders Effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives while fostering strong, productive working relationships Skills Education: bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering, or a related engineering degree GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 Licenses/certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified or ability to obtain certification within one year Software: strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets.
