Entry-Level Medical Billing Assistant

Job Summary New York City Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry-Level Medical Billing Assistant to join our growing healthcare support team. Key Responsibilities • Assist with the preparation and submission of medical claims to insurance companies. • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for medical services. • Maintain and update accurate patient billing and medical records in the system. • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies. • Support senior billing staff in reconciling accounts and tracking claim statuses. • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. • Prepare reports related to billing activities and account balances as required. Required Skills and Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in healthcare administration is a plus). • Basic understanding of medical terminology, billing procedures, and healthcare insurance processes. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism. Experience • No prior experience is required; this is an entry-level position. • Internship or coursework in medical billing, healthcare administration, or related fields is advantageous. Working Hours • Full-time: 40 hours per week. • Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. • Flexibility for occasional overtime may be required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Understanding of medical billing and coding processes. • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment. • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. • Competence in using electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software is a plus. • Customer-service oriented mindset with professional demeanor.
