Entry-Level Civil Engineer

The Entry Level Civil Engineer role involves supporting the design of civil engineering projects and managing relationships with in-house teams and contractors while providing essential design and consulting services.ResponsibilitiesSupport the design of civil engineering projects while building technical independenceComplete routine engineering calculations using standard methods, references, and software toolsResearch and select materials and components using engineering references and product literatureGrow into increased technical responsibility through hands-on project experienceLearn to read and interpret engineering drawings, including discipline-specific nomenclature and plan set contentAssist with hydrologic analyses by evaluating land use conditions, selecting runoff coefficients, and calculating times of concentrationAssist with site layout, grading, utility, drainage, and sedimentation and erosion control designs for planning, permitting, and construction phasesDesign components include roadway and parking layouts, overall site grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, domestic water, fire protection, thermal distribution, electrical and telecommunication infrastructure, and site lightingUtilize engineering software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Hydraflow and SewerGEMSReview plans and collaborate with project engineers and other team members to resolve design challengesProvide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirementsSkillsApplicants should have a minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and have or plan to take the Fundamentals of Engineering examApplicants must have a working knowledge of Civil analysis and design software (specifically Civil 3D preferred)Ability to travel to project sitesProficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and e-mail applicationsEffective interpersonal skills and strong communication (written and verbal)Confident and ambitious problem solverAdaptable – flexible and willing to work on various projects and tasksBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesProfessional development supportCompany OverviewSalas O'Brien is a national leading Facilities Planning, Commissioning, Construction Management and Mechanical, Electrical.
