As an Actuarial Analyst within arenaflex, you will leverage your strong quantitative skills, business acumen, and understanding of human behavior to contribute to critical activities including:


Risk assessment and evaluation
Rate development and regulatory filing support
Reserve analysis and monitoring
Planning, forecasting, and reporting
Pricing, trend analysis, and benefit design
Data analysis and competitive intelligence

What You Will Experience: Program Rotations

The Actuarial Improvement Program consists of four immersive rotations, each designed to expose you to a different strategic business area. These rotations will help you develop a well-rounded understanding of how actuarial science powers healthcare decision-making. Here's what you can expect:

Rotation 1: Risk Assessment
Understand the concept of specific risks and present your analysis findings to management. You'll learn how to identify, quantify, and communicate risk in ways that inform strategic decisions across the organization.

Rotation 2: Rate Filing
Organize and analyze filing data, then prepare and submit required exhibits for regulatory filings. This rotation provides hands-on experience with the regulatory landscape and the importance of compliance in the healthcare industry.

Rotation 3: Reserve Analysis
Analyze claim data and monitor reserve levels for viability. You'll develop a deep understanding of actuarial reserving techniques and the critical issues that impact financial stability.

Rotation 4: Planning and Forecasting
Provide technical support and analysis for planning, estimating, and reporting processes. You'll contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future of our business.

Additional Development Opportunities

Beyond the core rotations, you'll also gain experience in:


Pricing, Trend, and Benefit Design: Develop and recommend pricing and trend strategies for products and benefits that meet market demands while ensuring profitability.
Technical Capability: Foster innovative technical solutions to complex problems. Demonstrate proficiency with spreadsheets and database applications. Create and execute appropriate tools and models. Develop and define business requirements and specifications for processes, tools, and systems.


Work Environment and Flexibility

arenaflex follows a hybrid work model that provides our team members with the flexibility to work both in our offices and remotely, depending on the nature of the work you need to accomplish. This balanced approach allows you to collaborate with colleagues in person while enjoying the benefits of remote work. For candidates who need to relocate more than 50 miles from their current residence, migration assistance will be provided to ensure a smooth transition to your new role.

To be considered for the Actuarial Improvement Program, you must meet the following requirements:


Meet the educational requirements (see education section below)
Demonstrate a willingness to relocate to a recognized Actuarial hub
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Show enthusiasm for learning and professional development
Be authorized to work in the United States or have work visa sponsorship eligibility


Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates who bring some additional experience and skills to our team, though these are not strictly required:


Internship or work experience supporting Actuarial functions of an organization or group area
Demonstrated leadership experience—such as holding dynamic roles in student or social organizations, sports teams, or community groups
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with analytical or coding software, including but not limited to SAS, Python, Excel, VBA, SQL, or R
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive team environment
Adaptability—you're curious and can quickly and easily adjust to change


Education Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. Relevant coursework in probability, statistics, calculus, and finance is highly desirable.
