A Day In The Life Of a Substitute Teacher
Enjoy flexible workdays, Monday through Friday, with availability from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to ensure a seamless and consistent learning experience for students.
Effectively manage the classroom to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of each student.
Supervise students both inside and outside the classroom, including in hallways, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan.
For long-term assignments, collaborate with department heads (administrators or teachers) to develop lesson plans and assignments that align with the regular teachers previous plans.
Qualifications
Associate degree or 60+ college credit hours required.
Bachelor's degree or teaching certification preferred, but not required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain friendly and positive communication with students, parents, and administrators.
Ability to lead and instruct students across various age groups.
General knowledge of multiple subjects.
Ability to implement lesson plans as directed by the absent teacher or consult with the principal or other responsible staff if needed.
Flexibility and strong critical-thinking skills.
Commitment to ensuring the safety of all students at all times.
Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment while performing duties as outlined by the absent teacher.
