Job Summary

We're looking for an Engineering Technician to support our automation engineering services activities, including high-speed assembly equipment and manufacturing systems. As an Engineering Technician, you will develop and implement automated manufacturing systems at our Buffalo Grove site. This is a 100% remote role with a rotating night shift (6:00 pm - 6:00 am) and a 10% shift differential.

Key Responsibilities


Established as an equipment SME in your area and provide technical leadership to other technicians in the factory.
Support multiple production lines in the factory and provide technical updates to operations supervisors.
Escalate equipment and process issues to the engineering team when unable to solve.
Support training activities for technicians in the factory.
Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components and return to serviceability.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components.
Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment is completed on a regularly scheduled basis.
Understand and work with PLCs, read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and complex automated system drawings.
Collaborate with the engineering team in the qualification process of automated systems.
Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment.
Take leadership of equipment projects, develop equipment requirements and specifications, and conduct equipment design reviews.
Manage equipment suppliers through all phases of projects and lead project teams comprised of manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and machine technicians.
Provide on-site support at equipment suppliers' sites during machine build, debug, and testing/qualification.
Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
Draft qualification protocols and manage equipment qualification activities.
Attend customer meetings at all levels of discussions, getting customer inputs and presenting Flex manufacturing solutions.
Interface with customers, suppliers, and functional owners to coordinate project activities and remediate project issues.
Document equipment issues and propose robust solutions.
Develop preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.
Provide ongoing manufacturing support as a top-level SME.
Use advanced problem-solving techniques to address issues with machines and processes.
Support creation of engineering documentation required to implement changes and improvements.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Support the training and development of other technicians.
Support validation activities for new equipment and equipment updates.
Provide ongoing manufacturing support.
Strong awareness of safety guidelines.


Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:


Minimum 5 years of experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing equipment.
Minimum 10 years of related experience in a technology-based industry, where automated assembly techniques and equipment are utilized.
Industrial Engineering experience working in high-volume assembly processes.
Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools, such as robotics, vision, material handling, conveyors, PLC, HMI, pick-place-pack, inspection/test, and application of lasers.


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience working in the manufacturing of medical products.
