Engineering Manager, Metadata Distribution Engineering

The Metadata Distribution team is responsible for verifying, computing, packaging, and distributing metadata that drives the Netflix product. This includes influencing recommendations, content experience, and playback. As an Engineering Manager, you will coach and provide career development opportunities to your team, establish strong partnerships with upstream and downstream teams, and drive technology innovation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Coaching and developing a team of senior engineers
Establishing partnerships with upstream and downstream teams
Driving technology innovation and architecture decisions
Anticipating and adapting to new company initiatives and their impact on metadata distribution
Representing the Content Engineering team in cross-functional forums
Challenging designs and proposing solutions for highly scalable distributed systems
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Prior expertise in data lifecycle management, including modeling, movement, and distribution in highly scalable and low-latency environments
Experience as an Engineering Manager, leading teams working on mission-critical distributed systems
A systems thinking approach, with a strong desire to understand end-to-end architecture and data flow
Strong influencing skills across partners and non-direct reports
Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including operations, creative teams, engineering, legal, and security
