Our job is to build world-class, comprehensive platforms and features to create high quality experiences for our outstanding guest and host communities.
Within our Guest & Host organization is the Communication and Connectivity team, which owns the tools used daily by millions of guests and hosts, including Messaging (2nd most used surface within Airbnb) and Co-Hosting (key to the future growth of Airbnb). This team is formed exclusively by native engineers and is constantly working on very high visibility key features that are part of our bi-annual launches.
The Difference You Will Make
As an Engineering Manager, youll be leading a team of very senior, highly motivated, high achieving iOS and Android engineers. You will work closely with product managers, designers and other engineering leaders to align on objectives and deliver delightful overall experiences for guests and hosts. Youll be finding opportunities for driving technical excellence across all of airbnb and aligning these initiatives with the career growth of our amazing team.
A Typical Day
Collaborate with our ICs, partner teams, Directors and VPs to drive key Airbnb initiatives, influencing the experiences of our hosts and guests.
Partner with native (iOS/Android) stakeholders across the company, fostering a culture of collaboration and constantly improving our apps from infrastructure to finishing touches.
Lead the charge in proposing initiatives to improve our app's technical foundation.
Foster a vibrant, growth-oriented environment for our high-achiever team.
Your Expertise
5+ years of engineering management experience, with 9+ years of of relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced tech environment
Strong product and design instinct, previous proven experience building delightfully designed experiences.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven experience working with many engineering teams and cross functional partners.
Flexible in leadership style, can adapt to a variety of ways of working depends on the situation
Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with high business impact
Creating a strong culture of operational excellence with focus on raising the bar for quality, reliability and availability
Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
Strong communication skill and ability to influence decisions from a wide variety of stakeholders
Experience fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment
Able to identify, retain, grow and acquire critical talent

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
