Engineering Lead, 3D Web Visualization and Tooling

As a global virtual-first company, our team members are distributed worldwide, with a concentration in the US and Europe.We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead and grow our 3D Visualization and Tooling team, and take an active part in building the next generation of interactive web tools for converting 3D scans into CAD models. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this role will involve leading the development of advanced measurement and modeling tools based on our latest computer vision and machine learning algorithms. In this role, you will have an opportunity to lead the team that crafts 3D web experiences for hundreds of thousands of customers who scan millions of square feet per month, while also being a part of the company’s Engineering Leadership team.
What you’ll do:

Build the interactive web tools used by our internal Ops team to convert 3D scans into CAD models, with focus on 3D UX, operations with mesh and integration of CV / ML-based automation
Build the customer-facing 3D visualization web application that allows our customers to see their 3D scans and CAD models, as well as take measurements right in the iOS app and in the web portal
Ensure scalability, reliability and high level of automation of our systems that are used to process a high volume of 3D scans per day
Manage and grow the team: do performance reviews, provide coaching, facilitate professional growth of every team member, hire new team members
Drive team’s execution: run dailies, planning sessions, retros and other ceremonies; collaborate closely with the product manager, other engineering teams, and stakeholders; ensure high level of engineering excellence and efficiency

You should have:

Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Team management experience and strong leadership skills: high agency, problem solving attitude, collaborativeness, customer focus, outcome-driven approach
Technical expertise in the 3D, Web and general Software Engineering domains, sufficient for writing high-quality code, doing code reviews, and driving key technical decisions:

Good understanding of graphics pipeline
Experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, Three.js, GLSL (or any other shader language)
Proficiency with 3D math - you should be able to work with complex geometries and algorithms
Experience building with WebGL, specifically going under the hood of the framework. You should know how things work on a deep level, and be capable of making custom modifications, not just copying scripts
Good knowledge of software system design best practices

Comfortable working across multiple time zones and cultures

Nice to have:

Front-end experience (React, Vue or any other library)
Experience with 3D software (Blender, 3ds max, SketchUp, Revit)
Knowledge of BIM specifications and experience converting CAD geometry to different formats (IFC, SKP, and others)
Experience with Computer Vision and Machine Learning
Backend experience, knowledge of Python and Django
