Job Description: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for responding to emergency calls and making patient transfers in a timely and safe manner. In emergency situations, the EMT administers emergency care to patients, ensuring maximum comfort and stabilizing their condition. The EMT is responsible for relaying pertinent patient information to the dispatcher, documenting patient care, and maintaining necessary ambulance service records. Additionally, the EMT will be responsible for maintaining the emergency medical vehicle and equipment in optimal condition. Key Responsibilities: Respond to emergency calls and assist with patient transfers, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. Administer emergency medical care in accordance with established protocols, providing maximum comfort to patients. Relay critical information about the patient's condition to the dispatcher and other medical staff as needed. Maintain accurate records of patient care and ambulance service provided, documenting all actions and observations. Ensure that the emergency medical vehicle and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition, performing routine checks and addressing issues as needed. Comply with hospital, local, and state regulations and guidelines in the delivery of emergency care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate emergency response and care. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician by the Department of State Health Services. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support) or PHTLS (Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support) preferred. PPPC (Pediatric Pre-hospital Providers Course) preferred. Valid Texas Driver s License. Qualifications: Prefer at least 1 year of experience in an emergency medical environment. Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly relay information in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with the operation of emergency medical vehicles and equipment. Ability to adhere to hospital, local, and state guidelines for the delivery of emergency care. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in high-stress and fast-paced environments.
