Empower the Next Generation: Post-Secondary Student Mentor

South Bronx United (SBU), a pioneering sports-based youth development organization, is seeking dedicated and passionate Post-Secondary Student Mentors to guide and support our alumni in their college journey. As a mentor, you will play a vital role in helping young adults aged 18-24 navigate the challenges of higher education, fostering their social, emotional, and academic growth, and empowering them to succeed in their careers and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Build a meaningful relationship with your mentee, providing guidance, support, and encouragement throughout their post-secondary journey
Meet with your mentee at least once a month, either in-person or via video call, to discuss their progress, goals, and challenges
Help your mentee create a study plan, review their syllabuses, and select classes for the next semester
Track outcomes and goals throughout the academic year, updating our staff on student progress and identifying areas for improvement
Attend quarterly training sessions with other mentors to enhance your skills and knowledge

Requirements:
College experience and/or degree required (first-generation college students are welcome to apply)

Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, cultural awareness, sensitivity, and adaptability
Ability to commit to monthly meetings with your mentee and quarterly training sessions with other mentors
