About the position

The Emergency Department Technician at Banner Desert & Children's Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing patient care and assisting healthcare providers in a fast-paced environment. This position is integral to the multi-professional care team, focusing on delivering excellent patient care to a diverse population, including both adult and pediatric patients. The technician will perform various procedures under the supervision of licensed professionals, contributing to the overall mission of improving healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities
? Perform assigned procedures including electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, and vital sign measurements under the supervision of RN, APN, PA, or Physician.

? Assist with patient exams and minor surgical procedures, including lumbar punctures and suturing lacerations, within the scope of training.
,
? Conduct specimen collection and ensure accuracy in identification and integrity using appropriate techniques.
,
? Communicate updates to healthcare providers regarding changes in patients' conditions and document vital signs and procedures accurately.
,
? Monitor supply stock levels and maintain a safe environment by notifying relevant departments as needed.
,
? Attend department meetings and assist in training new ED Technicians.

Requirements
? High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
,
? Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
,
? Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or state certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers.
,
? Basic computer skills and effective communication skills are necessary.
