Knowledge Services has an opportunity for individuals drawn to the social service industry with the FSSA/Division of Family Resources (DFR) as an Eligibility Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting in the processing of applications from Indiana residents who are requesting public assistance. The DFR is responsible for determining eligibility for individuals applying and/or receiving public assistance. Programs include TANF (cash assistance), SNAP, and Medicaid. The Eligibility Specialist staff are responsible for assisting in the processing of new applications and documents for ongoing public assistance.

Β• Eligibility Specialists gather data for all relevant assistance programs either face-to-face or via phone with clients
Β• Verify all information is gathered accurately and meets state policies
Β• Obtain release forms and medical records as needed
Β• Verify income, assets, and other financial / legal documents
Β• Review regulations and program requirements with clients
Β• Utilize automated program to determine eligibility of state assistance programs
Β• Data entry into state database
Β• Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner via phone or email
Β• Highly organized and analytical team player
Β• Previous Case Manager experience is a plus
Β• Strong written and verbal skills
Β• Solid computer skills, Microsoft Office proficiency
Β• Strong oral and written communication skills
Β• Basic math skills
Β• Case management skills
Β• Independent worker who is a self-starter that is reliable and dependable
Β• Strong customer service background with a professional demeanor
Β• Prefer a Bachelor or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services, but High School Diploma or GED required
Β• 2 yearsΒ’ experience in a social service environment, state or local government is desired pertaining to employment / training programs
Β• Previous experience as a Case Manager, Eligibility Specialist, Eligibility Associate, Office Manager, Call Center Customer Service Specialist, or Client Specialist encouraged to apply

The Eligibility Specialist position is an opportunity where you can make an immediate impact on your community, plus the potential for promotion. This role offers paid time off, benefits, and a 37.5 hour work week of Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM.
