Role Description
This is a part time role for a Cartoonist/Illustrator in the United States, the U.K. or Canada.
This is a part-time remote role for an Editorial Cartoonist/Illustrator. The role involves creating engaging editorial cartoons, developing original illustrations, and collaborating with editorial teams to visually interpret written content/articles in our print issues and digital publications.
Responsibilities:
● Create original illustrations, comics, or visual narratives for The Vagabond’s Verse blog or print magazine and agree
not to use AI-generated artwork unless explicitly approved.
● Collaborate with writers and editors to develop visuals that complement articles or standalone features.
● Deliver high-quality digital files in agreed formats by set deadlines. Ensure artwork aligns with the magazine’s visual identity.
Compensation: Unpaid Role - This is a volunteer position. All contributors receive editorial credit across all our platforms. Once stable funding becomes available, we plan to compensate all of our staff.
Qualifications:
• College undergraduate (juniors and seniors). Master's/Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Design, or any related field is preferred
• A strong passion for storytelling
• Familiarity with digital content platforms and online publishing
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Calendar, Drive etc.)
• A visual portfolio
