Editorial Assistant (Children's)
ABRAMS is a renowned publisher specializing in illustrated books since 1949, and they are seeking an Editorial Assistant to join their Children’s Editorial team. The role involves providing editorial and administrative support, managing schedules, and communicating with authors and agents to ensure timely and accurate publishing processes.ResponsibilitiesTaking notes in meetings, managing mailings to authors and agents, processing expenses, maintaining calendars and meeting agendas, and handle general editorial tasks as neededTrafficking and logging editorial materials on active projects, liaising with other departments (managing editorial, design, production, sales, marketing, publicity, contracts, and accounting)Communicating with authors, artists, and agentsManaging schedules and due dates for major publishing programs, and communicating between teams to make sure materials are accurate and distributed on timeWriting fact sheets, catalogue copy, P&L drafts, and cover copyEditorial tasks also include: light proofreading, collating multiple sets of galleys, and making text correctionsManaging the approval process between Abrams and licensor partners, which includes uploading to individual licensor portals and keeping track of feedback deadlinesCoordinate with Brand Strategy manager to supply information for yearly publishing plans and business reviews for licensor partnersVetting submissions and responding to proposals/submissions/inquiriesArranging schedules, calendar, and general administrative duties for the PublisherCreating and managing PowerPoint presentations for (4) four meetings a year to present titles internallySkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceAbility to work independently and follow through consistently on assignmentsDetail oriented: Position requires accuracy and careful attention to detailExcellent grammar, spelling, communication, and writing skillsMust be highly organized, energetic, and able to juggle multiple priorities efficiently and calmlyKnowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and PowerPoint neededDemonstrated interest in children's books, popular brands, and adult commercial fictionCopyediting/proofreading experience helpfulBenefitsGenerous paid holidays and Summer Fridays.Company-paid year-end office closure between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day each yearComprehensive health benefits, including short-term and long-term disability.Retirement savings (401k) and life insurance.Vacation, Personal, and Sick time off.Company OverviewABRAMS is a publisher of high-quality art and illustrated books publishing visually illustrated books in the areas of photography and more.
