About the Domestic Violence Hopeline (DVHopeline) The DVHopeline is the centralized domestic abuse helpline in King County, providing critical support and resources to individuals experiencing intimate partner violence. As a DVHopeline Advocate, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed advocacy services, advancing survivors' journeys to autonomy, safety, and freedom. Job Summary We're seeking a dedicated and experienced Domestic Violence Hopeline Advocate to join our remote team. As a DVHopeline Advocate, you will provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed support, information, and referrals to callers on our 24-hour DVHopeline. This is a remote position requiring a private, quiet workspace and a strong commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence. Key Responsibilities Staff a dedicated Help Line schedule, providing domestic violence information, crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and resource coordination to callers and community members via phone or chat. Explore additional service needs of callers and facilitate referrals to relevant gender-based violence and other organizations. Provide information and support to friends, family, employers, human service, and medical professionals seeking to support domestic violence survivors. Incorporate survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive best practices into supportive services. Maintain extensive knowledge of community resources and positive working relationships with other domestic violence and service agencies. Enter accurate and complete service data into the agency database and respond to data needs identified by management. Participate in staff meetings, Helpline team meetings, agency retreats, and other activities as required. Attend and document live and self-study trainings to ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC) annual training requirements. Essential Qualifications A minimum of one year of experience providing survivor-centered advocacy and/or crisis line coverage, with domestic violence-specific experience preferred. Commitment to the mission of New Beginnings and the needs of domestic violence survivors. Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence and the impact of trauma on survivors and their children. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse survivors in a welcoming, supportive, and culturally responsive manner. English fluency is required; fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, Ukrainian, Amharic, Somali, Tigrinya, Punjabi, Hindi) is preferred. Ability to maintain participant confidentiality and engage in wellness and self-care activities to manage secondary trauma. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual or multilingual skills. Experience working with survivors from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Knowledge of anti-oppression principles and social justice frameworks. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with typing skills at 50 wpm or higher.
