Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dispatch professional to coordinate transportation and logistics operations within our supply chain network. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage freight movements, utilize transportation management systems, and communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams. This role is vital in ensuring timely deliveries, optimizing fleet utilization, and maintaining smooth shipping and receiving processes. The Dispatch position offers an engaging environment for individuals with strong analysis skills and a passion for logistics and transportation planning.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400.
• Utilize GIS and GPS tools to monitor vehicle locations and optimize routing strategies.
• Manage fleet operations, including dispatching drivers, tracking deliveries, and adjusting schedules as needed.
• Maintain accurate data entry related to shipping & receiving, freight details, and delivery statuses.
• Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear phone etiquette when liaising with drivers, clients, and internal departments.
• Oversee logistics operations related to 3PL providers and shipping & receiving activities.
• Analyze transportation data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards throughout all dispatch activities.
• Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining professional communication with all stakeholders involved in the shipping process.
Requirements
• Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation management environments.
• Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
• Familiarity with supply chain processes, freight management, fleet management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
• Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for operational improvements.
• Proficient in data entry with high accuracy; experience with AS400 is a plus.
• Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and external partners.
• Typing proficiency for quick data entry tasks.
• Knowledge of 3PL operations and transportation planning best practices is preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. This position plays a critical role in supporting our logistics operations by ensuring seamless coordination of freight movement through advanced technology tools and effective communication strategies.
