Discord Community Moderator (Weekends)

Pitch Labs is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that educates, empowers, and inspires young entrepreneurs by providing accessible step-by-step guides, hosting events and workshops, and promoting peer mentorship and development in a community setting. We are 100% volunteer-run and offer all our resources for free online.
Our team at Pitch Labs is working to make entrepreneurship accessible. We strive to redefine who can be an entrepreneur, highlighting that being an entrepreneur is not about having a specific degree but pursuing one's innate curiosity to learn and develop. We strive to rewrite the narrative of what a successful business and entrepreneur looks like, recognizing that struggles are simply steps to success. We strive to help students understand both the value of always being a mentor and mentee and the value of harnessing their creativity regardless of what career they pursue in the future.
What We Need:
An enthusiastic new team member for our Community Department. We have a powerful vision and a platform that's already making a difference. However, to truly amplify our impact, we are working to develop an online community. We are seeking moderation and development volunteers who want to help entrepreneurs around the world and who find themselves aligned with our mission. Our aim is to provide a secure, engaging, and informative space for all members.
NOTE: Use of AI to write responses in your application will disqualify it from consideration.
Requirements:
Previous experience in managing / growing online communities.
Experience / familiarity with using Discord**
Must check and respond to messages within 24 hours once onboarded.
Availability for a minimum of 5 hours per week (Can volunteer whenever is best for you, Friday through Sunday).
The ability to write & speak professional level/native English.
Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities:
Attend biweekly meetings*** to keep in touch with the rest of the team and contribute ideas to help solve problems & build the community.
Review and moderate user-generated content, including text, images, and links, to ensure compliance with community guidelines and standards.
Assist community members by answering questions, providing guidance, and directing them to relevant resources or channels as needed.
Offer insights and suggestions to improve community engagement, dynamics, and moderation processes based on observations and user feedback.
Encourage positive interactions and contributions within the community, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all members.
Help ideate, plan, and execute engaging activities and events for community members.
Contribute to and execute plans to grow and advertise the server.
* This experience does not have to be as a moderator, but such experience would be a plus.
**Meetings are currently on weekdays. If you cannot make 3 of 4 meetings, you would have to make up this time with a 1-on-1 meeting with the Community Director.
Time Commitment: THIS IS AN UNPAID, REMOTE #WFH VOLUNTEER POSITION.
Although this is a volunteer role, given our startup-like functioning, we only seek active volunteers who are energized, ready to engage and make an impact.
Please be prepared to contribute at least 5 hours a week for at least the next 6 months.
As we invest heavily in training each volunteer, we humbly request that if you are unable to meet this time commitment, that you do not proceed with our application further. All volunteers must attend their departments team meeting or 1-1 meeting every week. We enforce a 24 hour response policy to promote a smooth workflow and mindfulness towards ongoing projects/deadlines that team members are working on.
We are able to accommodate volunteers who need time off for exams, work, family events, etc., as long as these commitments are appropriately conveyed as soon as possible.
