As a leader in our industry, we have over 22 GW of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable energy projects in development and 33 projects in operation or construction across North America.

Aypa is seeking a Director of Trading and Asset Optimization to join its Asset Management Team and support our work managing a large storage portfolio. Aypa is a growth organization with an established portfolio in a fast-paced industry.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of energy traders operating in ISOs across the U.S. with a strong focus in CAISO and ERCOT;
• Innovation in product structuring and solution development in both short-term and long-term energy markets: products may include virtuals, options, swaps and more;
• Implementation of hedging program;
• Research, identify and execute on opportunities to create market efficiencies and capture positive spreads, where allowed, within physical and financial power markets;
• Manage market fundamental analysis inclusive of emerging trends and regulatory changes;
• Collaboration with support functions Implementation of risk management program and structure;
• Clearly and effectively communicate complex topics to a diverse audience including but not limited to Executive, Asset Management, Operations, commercial and transmission teams;
• Adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements, including but not limited to Dodd-Frank.

Key Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience in business development, market analysis or energy derivatives trading;
• B.S. in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required;
• MBA a plus;
• Prior exposure to battery storage facilities and operations;
• Prior experience in front office asset management role a plus;
• Ethical decision-making capability exemplified;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment;
• Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, and aptitude to independently research and implement new concepts and skills;
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the CAISO market with ERCOT experience a plus;
• Ability and willingness to participate in weekend and off-hour on call rotation type work;
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.

Compensation and Location:
• Salary: A base salary commensurate with experience;
• Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the business's overall success;

• Location: Hybrid (USA). Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Preference is given to candidates located in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate. Remote will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
