Position Title: Director of Strategic Operations Department: OperationsReports To: COOLocation: RemoteEmployment Type: Full-timeTravel Requirement: 10% to 15%About MedZed MedZed is a leader in delivering value-based, technology-enabled social support to a diverse population of high-cost Medicaid members who have been unreachable with telephonic outreach, disconnected from primary care, and using hospital-based services as their primary point of care. We combine field-based outreach with innovative technologies to find and engage these members. We then apply a model of care designed to re-connect them to primary care, address the Health-Related Social Needs (HRSNs) that contribute to their disengagement and present barriers to care, and provide them with the means and knowledge to take more control over their healthcare. Our interventions yield reduced Emergency Department and Inpatient utilization costs for our health plan partners and improved quality of life for their members. We are seeking an accomplished individual to help realize our vision and contribute to long-term value creation. Position OverviewReporting directly to the COO, the Director of Strategic Operations is responsible for driving initiatives that reduce healthcare utilization while enhancing member care and experience. This position will work closely with all of the functional areas in the business to instill operational rigor throughout the operations so that we meet the requirements of our health plan partners. The individual will be responsible for maximizing the bonuses we receive from health plans through relentless drive to improve the way we deliver and report on care. Key ResponsibilitiesInstill and Drive Member-Centric Workflows:Lead the design and implementation of workflows that prioritize member outcomes through collaboration throughout the organization, informed by a deep understanding of our customer contract requirements. Ensure that strategies align with the organization’s member-centered focus, maintaining the highest standards of member care, safety, and satisfaction. Develop measures to ensure compliance outcomes are being met and company maximizes customer bonus opportunities.Implementation Project Management:Partner with the CFO, Clinical team and CGO to ensure new initiatives optimize operational efficiency, support financial sustainability, and align with long-term strategic objectives. This includes driving cost savings, enhancing profitability, designing new workflows, and supporting the execution of identified growth opportunities. Collaborate with the business development team to project manage new customer implementations through operating, reporting and technology lens from deal iteration through 90-day post launch. Ensure operations team understands contract terms and measurement criteria.Process Optimization:Collaborate with all functional areas to identify inefficiencies, implement streamlined workflows, and drive continuous improvement projects that enhance both operational efficiency and member care. Monitor the outcomes of these initiatives, adjusting as needed to ensure alignment with our values, improve care quality, elevate member experience, and deliver financial results. Focus on refining processes to support long-term organizational objectives and operational goals.Training and Support:Collaborate with Learning and Development, Clinical and Quality teams to ensure that company employees effectively adopt new processes, tools, and strategies. Support development and delivery of training programs that equip teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement new initiatives. Foster a culture of continuous learning by ensuring that team members have the resources, support, and opportunities for professional growth, empowering them to excel in their roles.Enforce Data-Driven Decision-Making:Leverage internal and external data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance member care and reduce costs. Require that decisions are based on sound data, ensuring that every strategy is grounded in evidence and operational rigor, and supports organizational goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.5+ years of experience in healthcare management, project management, or a similar role focused on strategic initiatives and cost-reduction in healthcare settings.Proven ability to align strategic efforts with organizational values.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and decisions.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.A curious nature and relentless drive for excellenceExperience with healthcare IT systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Project Management Workflow systems, etc.Experience with California Medi-Cal health plans and CalAIM Housing requirementsFamiliarity with Salesforce, housing documentation systems, and health plan portals.Strong data and reporting skills with experience tracking KPIs and performance metrics.
