The Carmelite System is a multi-state not-for-profit senior living organization sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged & Infirm. The Carmelite Sisters operate a network of 14 skilled nursing facilities throughout the United States. We are seeking to hire a Director of Regulatory Reporting. This is a fully remote position. $115K to $125K annually based on skills and experience. Director of Regulatory Reporting Introduction: This role is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely preparation and submission of regulatory, financial, and tax reports, including cost reports, Medicaid 855a, and IRS Form 990 filings. The role also involves coordinating audits, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting executive leadership with compliance insights Director of Regulatory Reporting Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. 10+ years of experience in regulatory reporting, nonprofit tax compliance, cost reporting, or financial reporting within a healthcare organization. Experience in a large nonprofit organization such as nursing facilities or hospitals, preferred. Familiarity with federal and state reimbursement models and Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting, preferred. Strong understanding of IRS Form 990 requirements and nonprofit tax rules. Experience preparing or overseeing cost reports and coordinating with auditors or tax advisors. Director of Regulatory Reporting Job Summary: Direct the preparation and filing of regulatory reports such as Medicare 855a, state required annual reports, and other industry-specific reporting requirements. Manage the preparation and filing of cost reports (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, or state agency reports) in compliance with applicable reimbursement guidelines. Ensure compliance with cost reporting requirements including allowable costs, cost allocation methodologies, and reimbursement calculations. Liaise with external and internal consultants, auditors or preparers. Analyze cost report data and outcomes to identify financial and operational impacts. Oversee the preparation and filing of IRS Form 990, 990-T, and applicable state nonprofit tax filings. Design and maintain a robust control environment for all regulatory, tax, and cost reporting functions. Conduct periodic internal reviews and risk assessments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness. Collaborate closely with Finance, Tax, Legal, Development, Reimbursement, Compliance, and external advisors to ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting.
