Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the product design strategy for Decorative Accessories and Home Goods, aligning with Target's overall product strategy and quality objectives.
Lead a team of designers in the creation of innovative and original products that meet merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points.
Drive financial results by providing design solutions that are differentiated from the market and unique to Target.
Manage designer partnerships and ensure seamless execution of product design and development processes.
Lead the aesthetic execution of product, including color, fabric/finish standards, print and pattern, expression of fit and trim/findings.
Conduct seasonal trend research and product design and development processes, leveraging cross-company synergy within Target.
Lead, develop, and manage team members, setting clear objectives, providing ongoing performance feedback, and evaluating potential.
Essential Qualifications
Four-year degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
15+ years of experience in product design and development in a retail or wholesale environment, with a successful track record.
15+ years of experience in a specified category (Decorative Accessories and Home Goods).
Domestic and overseas market travel experience.
Outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability of product development teams.
Demonstrated ability to identify trends and creative ability with strong commercial sense.
In-depth knowledge of design and product development processes, including textiles and garment manufacture, and demonstrated expertise in color, fabric, pattern, fit, and garment execution.
Experience understanding the consumer.
Successful team leadership overseeing a team size of ten or more.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a remote or hybrid work environment.
Familiarity with design software and technologies, such as CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchbook.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials.
