Key Responsibilities As the Director of Graduate Affairs and Academic Programs, you will be responsible for: Administering the Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology Graduate Program, in collaboration with faculty leaders. Recruiting and advising graduate students, providing guidance on academic and professional development. Managing annual budgeting and budget management, generating funding and program statistics reports. Developing and implementing strategies to increase diversity and promote an inclusive climate in the program. Contributing to the department's teaching mission, including teaching courses and developing curriculum. Coordinating student relations and activities, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for all graduate students. Engaging in professional development opportunities, staying current with best practices in graduate education and academic administration. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this position, you should have: A Ph.D. in a related area, such as biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or a closely related field. Experience mentoring or advising graduate students, with a strong understanding of their academic and professional needs. Experience with graduate admissions, recruiting, and administration, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. A demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community, with a strong understanding of the importance of equity and inclusion in academic settings. Experience teaching at least one course as either the lead or assistant instructor, with a strong passion for education and student learning. Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates with: Experience in academic administration, with a strong understanding of university policies and procedures. A track record of successful grant writing and fundraising, with the ability to develop and manage budgets. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students. A commitment to ongoing professional development, with a strong interest in staying current with best practices in graduate education and academic administration.
