About Target Plus and the Category Management Team

Target Plus is an innovative online marketplace that complements Target's first-party business by providing a platform for third-party sellers to reach a vast customer base. The Category Management team within Target Plus is responsible for identifying, building, and executing assortment plans that capitalize on industry growth opportunities. As a Director, you will oversee a team of senior category managers and set the tone for partner growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

Business, Assortment, and Vendor Management


Collaborate cross-functionally to define and implement strategies driving revenue growth and competitiveness in the digital marketplace.
Develop a deep understanding of the digital landscape and value propositions for brands and sellers.
Manage Strategic and Preferred partner tier relationships, providing leadership and presence in the market.
Develop annual and long-range financial plans, ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual forecast and goal performance.
Oversee OKR development, business KPIs, and action-driven outcomes to deliver KPI goals.
Escalate vendor needs and drive online experiences to enhance brand and category performance.


Enterprise Merchandising and Product Alignment


Advance the vision and strategy of merchandising relationships and assortment architecture through enterprise roundtable participation and annual assortment planning.
Develop and align vendor promotional strategies.
Prioritize and represent technology needs with Product teams to build scale and capacity.
Attend joint strategy and prioritization planning sessions with key Digital partners.


Team Leadership


Evolve and drive improvements in business and vendor experience through best practices, process refinements, and KPI evolution.
Build, lead, and develop a talented team of globally located members by setting priorities and actively coaching and managing performance.
Inspire the team by setting clear direction and accountability for revenue-driving activities and strong partner value and loyalty.
Champion best-in-industry relationship development with external partners, including vendors and brands.


Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:


A four-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience in digital marketplaces, sales, contracts, and negotiations, or business development roles.
4+ years of experience leading, developing, and coaching a team with direct reports.
An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in an agile environment.
Expertise in navigating merchandising relationships, including assortment strategy, financial plans, and operational routines.
Strong decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with 3P vendors in a retail marketplace ecosystem.


Preferred qualifications include:


Experience managing assortment strategies across a wide pipeline of external vendors and/or business partners.
Strong project management skills.
Site Merchandising skills.
Understanding of or experience with technical platforms, Item systems, and SalesForce.

Target offers a flexible work arrangement for this role, which may be considered for Remote or Hybrid (known internally as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangements based on Target's needs. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

Target offers a competitive salary range of $144,400.00 - $259,900.00, depending on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to your pay, Target provides comprehensive benefits, including:
