We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digitally led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business, as well as other initiatives such as Hey, Disney!

This position is situated within the team dedicated to Disney Cruise Line Strategic Growth, Infrastructure, and Technology Operations under DX Technology. The role collaborates extensively with Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Cruise Line business operations, and a diverse array of partnering technology teams across Corporate and DX Technology.

As a Director, New Build, you will be reporting directly to the Vice President, Technology.

About the Role & Team:
Disney Cruise Line is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth, and you will be accountable for the technological design, development, construction, installation, and commissioning of both current and future ships being constructed.

You will collaborate with peers to deliver on an extensive portfolio of commercial, innovative, and modernization initiatives related to new build efforts. You will work closely with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), technology, and business executives to define strategies alongside in-house and external engineering teams, vendors, and shipyards to deliver solutions that advance our Guest, Cast, Crew, and Business objectives.

What You’ll Do:
• Lead and oversee the strategic direction and execution of infrastructure engineering for new builds, including:
• Designing complete and complex frameworks, systems, or products
• Define and partner on processes for new technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
• Influence the shaping of future solutions and products by contributing to the network, infrastructure and architecture used across multiple products or systems
• Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives
• Collaborate with Executive stakeholders to execute on the design and implementation of converged system solutions onboard the new ships
• Lead the definition and execution of efficient build processes to enable standardization and execution of multiple ship builds as it related to Technology deliverables
• Manage the complex vendor scope deliverables for new builds to ensure completion within agreed cost, timescale and resources budgeted
• Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in the industry, recommending solutions where beneficial to the organizations growth
• Lead the development of future ship technical specifications to ensure that Disney Cruise Line is positioned to offer future ship view guest experiences
• Lead the team in collaborating closely with the critical shipboard departments and officers for project efforts
• Responsible for the long-term and annual planning of Technology and Digital investment as it pertains to new builds
• Manage and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Lead with an inclusive mindset and establish a culture of trust, transparency and collaboration
• Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
• Represent the department in executive meetings and provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership
• Positive, inspiring, and collaborative mindset that can be a trusted advocate for the DX Technology team that partners across the segments to ensure alignment with broader company-wide initiatives

Required Qualifications & Skills:
• 12+ years of related experience in Systems, Network and/or Infrastructure engineering
• Proven experience in a leadership role within network engineering, infrastructure engineering or a related field
• Strong strategic vision, planning and execution skills, with a track record of driving business-aligned technology initiatives
• Strong financial background and experience managing budget at multiple levels
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Ability to effectively manage local and remote teams
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
• In-depth knowledge of industry trends and best practices
• Proven experience in the cruise and/or related industries

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 12 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in network engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of cruise ship build type project experience
• 5+ years of cruise ship operational experience
• Experience with specific technologies, methodologies, or certifications relevant to network engineering
• Previous experience in a similar role within a large, complex organization
