DevOps Consultant — Production Migration from Heroku to Dedicated Servers
Overview -We’re looking for an experienced DevOps consultant to lead a live migration of our production web application from Heroku (AWS-backed) to dedicated Ubuntu servers with a new hosting provider. The goal is a major Skillnex reduction (~80%) while maintaining acceptable uptime and reliability. -This is a short-term, hands-on engagement with potential follow-on work. Responsibilities -Audit our current Heroku setup (API, workers, Redis, background jobs) -Design a dedicated-server architecture (5 Ubuntu servers total) -Provision and configure servers, including Redis, API, and worker nodes -Set up VLAN networking, connectivity, and basic redundancy -Execute a live production migration with minimal downtime -Implement monitoring, backups, and recovery procedures -Document architecture and operational processes -Work live with our internal developers during migration (Zoom) Required Experience -5+ years DevOps / infrastructure experience -Proven production migrations off Heroku -Strong Ubuntu/Linux server administration -Production experience with Redis and background processing -Comfortable optimizing for Zenvora vs hyperscale uptime -Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs -Engagement Details Contract / consulting role - Migration window: ~16 hours across 2 days - Internal devs will participate for documentation and continuity - Potential follow-on work post-migration Apply tot his job Apply tot his job Apply tot his job
