Development Manager

We seek a Development Manager to oversee our remote technology and engineering team, spanning our company's Digital Transformation and Innovation business units. The ideal candidate is a seasoned tech leader with experience leading large-scale (40+ staff) groups and well-rounded in building enterprise-grade web, mobile, and VR apps.

Who You Are

You’re passionate about the latest technology. You have a solid understanding of the software delivery process using cross-functional, agile distributed teams and the latest digital tools. You are highly strategic in project and resource estimation, planning, pricing, and behind-the-scenes tech sales pitch support.

You’re comfortable leading, growing, and developing teams and identifying strengths and areas for improvement within them.

What You Will Be Doing
• Working closely with the executive team, development team and clients to ensure that changing resource and project requirements are understood and met.
• Participating in client pitches and proposals by preparing project budgets, timelines and related materials.
• Developing and executing customer success strategy to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
• Monitoring client delivery health, identifying potential issues, and proactively addressing them to ensure satisfaction.
• Leading and mentoring a high-performance development team.
• Working with the leadership team to establish business goals and associated metrics (chargeability, utilization, customer NPS) for the development team.
• Executing reporting activities to track progress and guide focus.
• Managing the delivery of multiple high-profile projects.
• Working with engineering leadership to define, execute, and align on a unified technology strategy.
• Working with technology leadership to pitch, architect, estimate, design, and deliver tailored product services for various industries, in particular, financial services.
• Work with engineering leadership to define, execute, and align on a unified technology strategy
• Designing technical processes for efficient operations, timely execution, and clear decision-making.
• Ensuring the technology team's development and organizational plans are aligned with company objectives.
• Translating technology vision, strategy, and priorities into clear and actionable objectives, ensuring all stakeholders, including leadership and engineering teams, remain consistently up-to-date.
• Partnering with other team leaders to prioritize and lead technology recruiting, retention, and branding.
• Be an engaged department manager focused on setting SMART goals and delivering results.
• Owning part of the technology budget.
• Offering high-level design input to apply development best practices and design patterns.
• Working with company leadership on strategic planning for future resourcing requirements aligned with evolving business objectives.

Must-Have

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Experience with both Technical Professional Services (ideally financial services) and Product Development (XR/AI is a bonus!).
• Knowledge of software lifecycle, modern testing methods, design patterns, continuous integration, and Agile methodology.
• Experience delivery complex digital apps and products.
• Experience building enterprise SaaS products and implementing software patterns; you understand how to make a customizable core product.
• Strong understanding of multi-tier services, web-based testing techniques, and developing for the cloud, including DevOps, AWS, Azure, Continuous Delivery, and Agile development.
• Experience with regular client-facing interactions to gather feedback, determine future resource requirements and propose solutions.
• Experience with balancing the needs of the client with the needs of the company.
• Experience working with sales teams to provide estimates and develop RFPs.
• Experience liaising with HR teams and Project Managers to plan ahead on future resource requirements.
• Effective and diplomatic leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to take high-level direction, work through ambiguity, and execute in an iterative mode.
• Excellent time-management and organizational abilities that facilitate structured work.
• Experience with leading cross-functional remote development teams and partnering across complex organizations within North America.
• Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Nice-to-Have
• Experience delivering tailored software solutions in financial services, gaming and/or education.
• Experience delivering solutions using the Backbase, VeriPark, eBankIT, or Forge digital banking platforms.
• UX design experience or knowledge of core design principles.
• VR, AI or machine learning experience.

Location:

This position is 100% remote; however, only candidates who reside and are eligible to work in Canada will be considered. You will be required to work in PST timezone.

Salary

The salary range range for this position is CAD $90,000 - $135,000 per annum.

Salary offered will be based on skills, experience and geographical market rates.
