They are seeking a Designer to support the Site Infrastructure Designs hardware team by drafting and documenting hardware application designs, while contributing to the development and modification of these designs. Responsibilities Works within a team, under the supervision and guidance of experienced designers, handling low complexity tasks Actively learns processes, tools, and products, adhering to instructions and asking clear technical questions Responsible for efficiently completing tasks with accuracy Contributes to the development and modification of hardware application designs Identifies, interprets, and documents requirements; selects an appropriate design approach Participates in defining development strategies to maximize product reusability Ensures the integrity of all design documentation Aids in resolving hardware issues both in-house and on project sites Supports installation and field testing to ensure successful technical implementation Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and knowledge in primary disciplines to solve problems Carries out basic technical tasks and HW CAD primarily for electrical and some mechanical designs Demonstrates a good level of logical reasoning resulting in effective hardware application designs and processes Completes tasks promptly and confidently seeks clarification when needed Selects appropriate design approaches while maximizing the use of existing designs Articulates technical questions concisely for management review and approval Promotes harmonious working relationships within the group Skills Post-secondary Technologist diploma or Electrical/Electronics Engineering degree 0-3 years of related work experience Solid understanding of electrical theory and systems, along with strong CAD skills Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., Microstation, AutoCAD), Bills of Materials (SAP), Configuration Management, Hitachi Change Control Process (Clearquest), and Microsoft Office Suite Strong interpersonal and diplomatic abilities for interacting confidently and courteously across organizational levels and with customers Well-developed verbal English skills for effective and professional communication in various forums Strong written English skills to prepare clear and concise documents Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment Maintains professionalism in the job and interpersonal interactions Demonstrates initiative in researching source documentation for design activities Makes timely decisions independently and collaboratively Benefits Health, Dental and Vision plans - 100% of premiums are company-paid Retirement Savings Plan with a company contribution and a match, and without vesting period Company paid holidays - 3 weeks of vacation, Holiday closure, personal emergency leave days and sick days Maternity/Parental/Adoption top up pay Annual Incentive plan Company provided Life Insurance, STD and Employee Assistance Plan Company Overview Hitachi Rail is a provider of rail solutions across rolling stock, signalling services and turnkey.
