Good Business Lab is an independent, non-profit labor innovation company. We use rigorous academic research to prove that worker well-being programs have business impacts. The founders of the lab are Ach Adhvaryu - Professor of Economics and Director of 21st Century India Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, UC San Diego (www.achadhvaryu.com), Anant Ahuja-head of Organization Development at Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., and Anant Nyshadham- Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan (www.anantnyshadham.com).
Role: Design (Visual) Intern
Location: Remote
Position Type: Full Time Internship
Contract Duration: 2 months
Remuneration: INR 15000 per month
Deadline to Apply: Two weeks from the date of publishing
GBL’s Visual Design Intern will support the design and research team in creating compelling visual communication across digital and print formats. You will assist in developing reports, presentations, outreach materials, and training modules while also contributing to basic research tasks such as desk research, organizing insights, and synthesizing information into visual formats.
This role is ideal for someone who is:
Curious about using design for social impact
Interested in research-informed design
Comfortable working in a collaborative environment
Eager to build strong fundamentals in visual communication
You will work closely with designers, researchers, development practitioners, and operations teams.
What will you do (areas that will play to your strength and all the responsibilities we will trust you with):
Design & Communication
Assist in creating visual collaterals such as reports, pitch decks, concept notes and case studies
Support layout design for publications, training modules and workshop collaterals
Create illustrations, icons, and visual elements from scratch
Design presentations and storytelling decks (Google Slides & Figma)
Support UI/UX mockups and basic wireframes where required
Maintain visual consistency across projects as per style guides
Research Support
Conduct basic secondary research
Organize research findings into structured summaries
Translate research insights and data into clear visual formats (infographics, charts, diagrams)
Support in synthesizing qualitative insights into communication materials
Assist in preparing documentation for workshops and internal reviews
Collaboration & Process
Coordinate with internal teams to understand project requirements
Support in preparing materials for workshops and co-creation sessions
Take ownership of assigned tasks and adhere to deadlines
Be open to feedback and iterative improvement
Who are you? Ideally, you have (The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role):
B.Des./Bachelor of Fine Arts Communication Design, Graphic Design, Visual Design
Basic understanding of research processes and comfort working with data
Strong visual design fundamentals (typography, layout, color, hierarchy)
Proficiency in:
Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Figma
Google Slides
Ability to create illustrations and layouts from scratch
A portfolio showcasing visual communication work
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
What You Should Be Comfortable With
Working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
Working in a team with shared responsibilities.
Receiving and implementing structured feedback.
Problem-solving in high-pressure environments.
