Design for Manufacturing Engineer
## RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the design team, work in collaboration with Manufacturing and Supplier Development Engineers to drive requirements for SMT process across satellite and gateway programs
Advocate and drive consolidation of SMT assembly requirements, aligning internal and external SMT products
Perform reviews of PCBs before release to address manufacturing issues such as thermal unbalancing, component breakout and footprint design
Identify trends and opportunities for optimizing product output, quality enhancements, and cost of manufacturing
Develop test vehicles to validate and propose new process, in particular for new designs and new silicon
Drive corrective actions into designs based on manufacturing defects and yield issues
## BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or other STEM discipline
1+ years work experience in SMT processing and/or microelectronics packaging either from industry, research, internships or academic projects
