Design Engineer - Traffic/ITS

Muller Engineering Company is seeking a qualified Design Engineer to join their growing Traffic Engineering Group, focusing on impactful transportation projects across Colorado. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop traffic signal and control plans, while providing outstanding client service and conducting safety-focused planning efforts.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop traffic signal plans, signal and marking plans, construction traffic control plans, traffic design, and ITS plans for transportation facilities - including interstates, interchanges, urban arterials, rural roadways, and multimodal facilitiesProvide outstanding client service by applying planning experience and knowledge with/focus on conducting road safety audits, safe streets for all plans and other safety-focused planning effortsAssist mid-level and senior engineers in preparation of studies, reports, and design packages for a wide variety of traffic engineering and projectsAssist with traffic operations and conducting safety projects and studies including traffic signal timing, microsimulation modeling, multimodal planning, and safety studiesTake ownership of projects from start to finishPerform field observation work when necessaryOther duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering discipline from an accredited college or university0 – 3 years of experience in transportation/traffic engineeringExcellent written and oral communication skillsSelf-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skillsA desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment and creating designs that support our client's overall project goalsA master's degree in Traffic or Transportation EngineeringKnowledge of and experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineeringKnowledge of and experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler or VISSIMKnowledge and experience with Microsoft Office productsEngineer Intern (EI) certification in Colorado or another stateCompany OverviewMuller Engineering Company is a civil engineering company providing stormwater and flood control management services.
