Design Director, Cash and Money Movement

Wealthfront is looking for a Design Director to support our Cash area. Reporting directly to the Design Director for the Cash and Growth, this role is ideal for the design leader who enjoys a mix of direct impact on vision and strategy and unlocking impact by empowering the team they support. This role is best suited for someone who loves having impact through the scope and quality of their work rather than through the number of people they manage.Success in this role will require strong people management and communication skills as well as strategic thinking, vision facilitation, a high bar for craft, and executional excellence. Building great financial products requires digging diligently into the details and going deep to untangle complex problems. We’re seeking a design leader who cares deeply about all phases of product development—from defining new opportunities to shipped pixels.The Cash area aims to make organizing and managing finances dead simple. This covers everything from core platform capabilities like money movement, to getting people instant access to their savings to confidently make a down payment, to helping a couple think through their shared financial picture. We leverage technology to build sophisticated financial products that put people in control of their finances. As a leader of the organization, your role will be to model this, develop these skills in your design teams, and contribute to the company-level design organization as a member of the design leadership team.We’re a remote-first team and open to candidates in the US. Key responsibilities Driving company impact through supporting 5 senior and staff level product and content designers: staffing, hiring, guiding their work, growing their skills, facilitating career development, cultivating excellent performance, and building an inclusive culture.Facilitating effective cross-functional collaboration exercises, vision workshops, design sprints etc. to quickly bring clarity and alignment to new opportunities.Supporting designers in, and individually partnering with PM, engineering, user research, and data science to directly drive clarity on ambiguous opportunities and vision to support area strategy, prioritization, and tradeoffs.Coordinating a complex roadmap of long-term projects that impact core Wealthfront platform capabilities and involve multiple stakeholders and external partners.Developing ongoing product initiatives including Instant Withdrawals, Joint Access and Management, and unifying the transfer experience across all Wealthfront products, and more.Helping us innovate and scale as a company by partnering with leaders across Wealthfront.Identifying and pursuing impactful ideas on everything from what we build to how we work, such that we are able to learn as quickly and efficiently as possible.
