Job Overview
As a Dental Assistant at AltaMed, you'll work closely with our dentists and dental hygienists to provide primary care dental services to patients at our clinic and mobile oral health unit. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting dentists and dental hygienists with patient care procedures
Sterilizing and preparing dental instruments and supplies
Maintaining proper infection control and safety protocols
Managing inventory and supplies
Providing exceptional patient care and customer service
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Assist dentists and dental hygienists with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to infection control and safety protocols
Manage patient records and scheduling
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Manage inventory and supplies
Provide exceptional customer service to patients and visitors
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate required
Successful completion of a board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act
X-Ray, infection control, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificates required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting
Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred
Experience working in a community health setting

Basic computer skills and knowledge of dental software
