Data Governance & MDM Lead

Data Governance & MDM Lead (10+ years) Overview We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM) Lead to drive the establishment and maturation of our data governance frameworks and MDM solutions. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity, quality, and trustworthiness of enterprise data, partnering closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to build robust governance structures and master data capabilities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on practitioner and influential leader with deep expertise in all facets of data governance and MDM implementation.Key Responsibilities • Lead Governance and MDM Implementation: Provide expert leadership and guidance for data governance and MDM workstreams. Lead the design, documentation, and implementation of Data Governance frameworks, operating models (including RACI, data stewardship), and MDM solutions across critical data domains (e.g., Customer, Product, Vendor). • Establish Data Quality: Define and oversee data quality assessment methodologies, profiling activities, and remediation strategies. Establish and guide the design of MDM solutions, including master data models, golden record creation, match/merge rules, survivorship logic, and synchronization patterns.• Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy: Act as the subject matter expert for data governance and MDM, partnering with business data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to define and implement governance aligned with business objectives. Facilitate Data Governance Councils and stewardship forums to drive adoption and accountability. • Strategic Roadmap & Artifacts: Develop data governance roadmaps and maturity assessments. Create and maintain essential governance artifacts, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, data lineage documentation, and data quality dashboards.• Drive Compliance: Ensure adherence to data policies, standards, and best practices, with a strong focus on data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance within governance frameworks. Required Qualifications • Experience: 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Quality roles, with a proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide programs. • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field.• Technical Expertise: • Deep expertise in MDM solution design, including domain modelling, match/merge algorithms, data survivorship, and hierarchy management. • Strong knowledge of core data governance disciplines: metadata management, data quality, data lineage, and reference data management. • Experience with data profiling and quality assessment tools and techniques. • Leadership & Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, build consensus, drive adoption, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business audiences.Nice to Have • Hands-on experience with major MDM platforms (e.g., Boomi MDH, Informatica MDM, Semarchy) or Data Governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, bolthires Purview). • Familiarity with the DAMA-DMBOK framework. • Professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional). • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and integrating governance into Agile/Scrum delivery.
