Overview
Data Governance Manager - Remote Nationwide (United Health Group). The role supports governance initiatives, data policies, and the integrity, quality, and security of data across the organization. The position requires strong project management, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across IT, business, and product teams. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is allowed.
Primary Responsibilities
ā¢ Execute Governance Frameworks - Implement and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data quality, consistency, security, and compliance.
ā¢ Drive Governance Projects - Lead and manage day-to-day execution of assigned projects, set clear objectives, track progress, and report status updates to leadership.
ā¢ Support Success Metrics - Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to measure data governance effectiveness and surface insights.
ā¢ Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Coordinate with IT, business, operations, and product teams to execute governance tasks aligned with cross-functional objectives.
ā¢ Monitor & Improve Data Quality - Partner with data stewards and owners to implement data quality controls, metadata management, and data lineage tracking.
ā¢ Support Access & Compliance - Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA) and manage contract-based access control frameworks.
ā¢ Educate & Advocate - Provide training to stakeholders, promoting a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
ā¢ Stay Ahead of Trends - Keep up with evolving data governance methodologies, tools, and regulatory changes, recommending process enhancements as needed.
Required Qualifications
ā¢ High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
ā¢ 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields
ā¢ 8+ years of experience in data governance principles, frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DGI), and regulatory compliance
ā¢ 5+ years of experience in SQL or preliminary coding to support data validation and governance automation
ā¢ 5+ years of experience in strong project management, including handling multiple initiatives simultaneously
ā¢ 5+ years of experience defining meaningful success metrics and tracking progress
ā¢ 5+ years of experience translating business needs into scalable governance solutions
ā¢ Ability to work standard daytime hours in the Pacific time zone
Preferred Qualifications
ā¢ Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Databricks, Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
Soft Skills
ā¢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence cross-functional teams

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment, with compensation determined by factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
