This role is instrumental in managing and enhancing our data resources to support the client's mission of delivering cleaner, smarter energy solutions worldwide. Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Develop, implement, and manage the organization's data catalog to ensure that data across all systems is accurately cataloged, described, and accessible to stakeholders. • Establish and maintain metadata management practices to enhance data discoverability and usability. • Collaborate with IT and business units to integrate the data catalog with existing data management and analytics platforms. • Facilitate the adoption of the data catalog by conducting training sessions and creating user guides for stakeholders across various departments. • Work with data governance teams to align data cataloging and metadata management practices with overall data governance frameworks and policies. • Implement and monitor data quality metrics and standards within the data catalog to ensure high-quality data documentation and metadata management. • Lead the development of metadata standards and practices, including the definition of data attributes, taxonomies, and classification schemes. • Stay abreast of developments in data cataloging, metadata management, and data governance technologies and practices, recommending improvements to internal processes. • Assist in the evaluation and selection of data catalog and metadata management tools and technologies. • Provide expertise and support for projects involving data migration, integration, and new data initiatives to ensure seamless integration with the data catalog. Desired Skills, Expertise, and Competencies • In-depth understanding of data cataloging principles, metadata management, and data governance frameworks. • Strong technical proficiency with data cataloging tools and platforms, as well as experience with database technologies, SQL, and data modeling. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and geographically diverse organization. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex data concepts in simple terms. • Experience in training and mentoring team members on data catalog and metadata management practices. • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving data management challenges. Education / Experience • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management roles, with at least 2 years focused on data cataloging, metadata management, or related areas. • Experience with leading data catalog and metadata management platforms and tools. • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in data management.
