Dairy Site Manager
Providence Farmstead Site Manager Otto, NC Providence Farmstead is a family farming operation with multiple facilities throughout northeast Georgia as well as Otto, NC. We are looking for a hard-working and self-motivated individual to join our team at the dairy in Otto, NC in the role of Site Manager. The herd is 100% registered jerseys and totals 100 mature cows as well as youngstock. The state-of-the-art free stall facility utilizes two DeLaval milking robots. This operation is suited for agritourism, on-site milk processing, and excellent herd management utilizing some of the newest technology. The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on dairy experience and enjoys being a part of a team while taking pride in their work. Responsibilities include herd management and facility maintenance as well as day-to-day labor management. The site manager will report directly to the dairy general manager. The dairy general manager will be on site 2-3 days per week. Our Other Locations: Bowersville, GA: 300 Cow, 4 Delaval milking robots with Freestall Barn and cropping operations Demorest, GA: 200 Acre Farm for crops and beef Cattle Rabun Gap, GA: Owns and Operates Blue Ridge Meats Clayton, GA: Farmstead Market Qualifications: Previous hands-on dairy experience Experience with herd management software Hard-working and self motivated Strong written and verbal communication skills Problem solving skills Valid driver’s license Expectations: Calm handling of all livestock. Follows SOPs and protocols for working with animals, operating, and servicing equipment. Willingness to work with the dairy general manager to implement new protocols and procedures for dairy operations as needed. Willing to cooperate with all employees in a professional manner. Willingness to do any and all tasks at the dairy if needed. Duties: Herd Management: Manage herd health of milking cows, dry cows, calves, and heifers. Including artificial insemination, health checks, and necessary treatments as directed by the dairy general manager. Maintain an up-to-date vaccination program. Data Entry Utilize Delpro herd software and PcDart to keep records up to date. Facility Management: Maintain health, sanitation, and facility protocols. Service and maintenance of robotic milking units. Operation of manure management systems. Operation and maintenance of RTVs, skid steers, and various tractors. Work with equipment servicemen to repair equipment. Labor Management Monitor employee productivity and help train employees. Monitor employee daily tasks to help maintain the facility. General Management Work with the dairy general manager and employees on a daily basis. Be familiar with daily routines in all aspects of the operation. Be on call for emergencies. Fill in for the dairy general manager on days off and vacations. Assist with various dairy projects. Hours: 10 hours a day for 6 days a week: Monday – Friday, alternating Saturday/Sunday. With an average of 1 weekend off every month. Typical Day: Starting 6 AM, Lunch from Noon – 12:30 PM, Off 4:30 PM Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $60,000-70,000; salary is negotiable based on experience Health Insurance Paid sick leave up to 5 days annually Paid Vacation SIMPLE PLAN retirement opportunity
