Cyber Security System Administrator

Overview/ Job ResponsibilitiesSev1Tech is seeking a Cyber Security System Administrator to support daily operations and security system administration for a hybrid IT environment in alignment with CMMC Level 2 compliance. Supporting a newly awarded contract, this role plays a critical part in ensuring security controls are properly configured, monitored, and maintained across on-premise, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCC High), and federated systems.This administrator will manage systems such as firewalls, VMs, endpoints, and SIEM platforms while implementing best practices for patch management, access control, and incident preparedness.Key Responsibilities:Administer and monitor critical IT and security systems including firewalls, virtual machines (VMs), endpoints, routers, wireless systems, and printersDeploy, configure, and maintain EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), MFA, and SIEM technologiesPerform system hardening and patch management across Windows, Linux, and hybrid cloud environments to support ongoing complianceMonitor security tools and logs to detect and respond to anomalies or unauthorized activitySupport end-user access provisioning, including onboarding to Microsoft GCC High environmentsAdminister and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and user permissions across systemsExecute secure data backup and recovery procedures and conduct tabletop exercises simulating real-world incidents such as compromised supplier scenariosMaintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and changes in support of audit readinessAssist with the implementation of technical controls aligned with CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171/172Collaborate with engineers and architects to support secure system configurations and technology upgradesPerform routine system health checks, monitor alerts, and ensure compliance with internal SLAs and government cybersecurity standardsPerform other duties as assignedSalary: $110,000 - $125,000 DOEMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent work experience5+ years of system administration experience, preferably in a federal or DoD environmentExperience administering and securing hybrid systems across on-prem, AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, and GCC HighStrong working knowledge of firewalls, EDR platforms, endpoint management tools, MFA, and SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm)Experience with patching, hardening, and baseline compliance per DISA STIGs or other federal standardsFamiliarity with CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171/172, and federal cybersecurity frameworksDemonstrated experience with access control implementation, account management, and user onboardingKnowledge of secure backup and recovery strategies, including incident simulation (e.g., ransomware, compromised vendors)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in Windows and Linux environmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain detailed documentation and SOPsDesired QualificationsSecurity+, CySA+, SSCP, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, AWS/Azure Administrator, or equivalentAbout Sev1Tech LLCWelcome to Sev1Tech!
