About The Role The Customs Audit Specialist ensures all import shipment data, system entries, and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and compliant with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements. This role audits records and system data, identifies discrepancies, and ensures timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities and clients, supporting compliance and operational efficiency. What You’ll Do Audit import and export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, for accuracy and completenessVerify invoice valuation and country of origin information prior to CBP submissionEnter and maintain import shipment data in FTZ systems accurately and timelyReview pre-advise files, research and correct discrepancies, and ensure shipments are accounted for to CBPMaintain electronic and paper files in compliance with government regulations.Communicate shipment status and process exceptions to management and internal teamsProduce accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by Customs regulationsConduct periodic internal audits of import shipments to identify compliance issues, errors, or discrepanciesReconcile system records against supporting documents and physical shipmentsAnalyze trends in discrepancies and provide root cause analysis to managementSupport internal and external audits, preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiriesEvaluate internal controls, recommend improvements, and assist in implementing procedural changes to reduce riskProactively identify process improvements and recommend operational efficienciesPerform other duties as assigned to support audit and compliance functionsStrong analytical and critical thinking skills for identifying errors, inconsistencies, and risk exposureStrong organizational, detail-oriented, and analytical skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively across all levelsProfessional demeanor, positive attitude, and high work ethic How You’ll Grow We are committed to investing and supporting you in your professional development and we have developed a range of programs focused on fostering leadership, growth and development opportunities. What You Will Need To Succeed Basic Qualifications Basic understanding of import/export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, house/master bills of ladingPrior auditing experience or familiarity with compliance review processesAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook; experience with FTZ software is a plusAbility to prepare and analyze audit reports, reconciliations, and compliance dashboards.Available for occasional domestic travelApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide sponsorship Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Logistics, Transportation, or related fieldKnowledge of U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Customs procedures, and CBP reporting requirementsExperience with EZ-FTZ or similar import management softwareFamiliarity with post-entry adjustments, first-sale valuation, and other customs compliance programsExperience in risk-based audit planning or internal control evaluationKnowledge of logistics, Customs regulations, and FTZ operations#LI-TL1#LI-Remote Total WellbeingOur goal is to support the wellbeing of you and your families—physically, emotionally, and financially.
