Key Responsibilities Engage with patients through online web chat and respond to patient messages via the CRM platform, addressing their queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Perform a range of clerical and customer service functions to meet the needs of patients, healthcare providers, and the organization, ensuring seamless interactions and resolutions. Research and respond to a high volume of patient inquiries related to billing questions, insurance coverage, and other account-related matters, providing accurate and helpful information. Negotiate payment plans on patient account balances, demonstrating empathy and understanding while adhering to financial policies and guidelines. Communicate hospital financial policies to patients, identifying those who may require financial assistance and guiding them through available options. Maintain a thorough understanding of insurance processes, including registration, scheduling, referrals, authorizations, and account follow-up, to secure reimbursement of claims efficiently. Work effectively in a computer-intensive environment, utilizing multiple monitors and systems simultaneously, with a minimum typing speed of 25 wpm. Adhere to production standards and quality metrics set for the department and clients, ensuring high levels of productivity and customer satisfaction. Handle medical records with accuracy and confidentiality, complying with HIPAA, Federal, State, and company requirements to maintain patient privacy and data security. Perform other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to evolving needs and priorities. Qualifications and Requirements Education and Experience A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare collections, billing, insurance, or related customer service roles. Preferred experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers (HMO, PPO), with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Certifications such as CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate), CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative), or CFC (Certified Financial Counselor) are preferred, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Intermediate to advanced computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet productivity and quality standards. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compassionate responses to patient inquiries. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to analyze information, identify solutions, and implement them effectively. A high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in responses, data entry, and other tasks. The ability to read and understand a variety of information presented in different formats from multiple sources. Working knowledge of health insurance processes and insurance verification procedures.
