Curriculum and Instruction Internship

Remote Full-time
About Tech Goes Home

Tech Goes Home (TGH) is a nonprofit dedicated to addressing the digital inequities that pose a significant barrier to opportunity and success for thousands of students, workers, and families across Massachusetts. We bring computers, internet, and training to those without so students can do homework, adults can find jobs and manage finances, seniors can connect with loved ones, and all can lead healthier lives.

In the past five years alone, 21,000 learners have graduated from TGH programs, and we have distributed more than 15,000 new computers in communities across Eastern Massachusetts. The coronavirus pandemic, along with the growing national consciousness of systematic racism, has substantially increased awareness of the digital inequities that low-income households face as many of our school, employment, healthcare, and civic programs have moved to virtual platforms.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Curriculum & Instruction Intern to join our Curriculum and Instruction team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in curriculum development, instructor support, and data management, all while contributing to TGH's mission. The intern will collaborate with TGH staff to enhance the quality of our educational offerings, support our instructor community, and help analyze program data to improve learner outcomes.

This is an unpaid internship where course credit can be arranged through your educational institution. The experience offers valuable professional development opportunities to enhance your resume and skills in the fields of education, curriculum design, and nonprofit work.

The Curriculum & Instruction Intern will report directly to the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and work closely with other members of the Curriculum team.

What you'll do

Tech Support & Learning Management System (LMS)
• Provide tech support for the Learning Management System, ensuring smooth functionality and addressing technical issues.
• Assist with data entry in the LMS to ensure course content, learner progress, and evaluations are properly logged.
• Help build and manage the LMS resource library for instructors.

Instructor Support & Community Engagement
• Collaborate on the development of the Instructor Support Network, providing resources and assistance to educators.
• Assist in drafting and distributing the monthly Instructor Newsletter, keeping instructors informed and engaged with TGH's latest updates and resources.
• Host focus groups to gather feedback and insights from instructors to improve curriculum and learning experiences.

Data Management & Evaluation
• Review course data, course ratings, and course evaluations to help assess the effectiveness of TGH's programs.
• Assist with archiving curriculum-related data and ensuring that all materials are properly organized for future use.
• Analyze learner performance and course outcomes to provide insights that guide curriculum updates and improvements.

Additional Administrative Support
• Draft and organize course handouts and instructional materials for both online and in-person learning formats.
• Assist in the development of curriculum "outfits" or supplemental materials that enhance the learning experience.

Qualifications & Experience

We value diverse backgrounds and are open to applicants with varying levels of experience. Ideal candidates will have:
• A strong interest in education, curriculum design, or instructional technology.
• Experience or interest in working with learning management systems or other educational technologies.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience with data entry and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• An eagerness to learn and contribute to meaningful work that supports educational equity and inclusion.

Compensation, Benefits & Work Location

This is an unpaid internship. Course credit can be arranged through your educational institution.
• Location: Hybrid (remote work with occasional in-office meetings)
• Duration: Four-month internship, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
• Professional Development: While this position does not offer monetary compensation, there are opportunities for professional development and mentoring throughout the internship. Interns may also gain valuable networking opportunities and experience in the nonprofit sector.

Making the Decision to Apply

We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. To apply for this internship, please submit your resume and cover letter via LinkedIn. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
