Title: Crisis Call Line Specialist $64,604.80 - $85,280.00 / Posted Thru: 10/2/2025 Location: Remote/Virtual - Must live and work in Michigan Purpose: To assist the Section Manager in the development of a comprehensive crisis system infrastructure which meets all Michiganders’ needs. This position will work with other parts of MDHHS and state and community level stakeholders to assess and develop strategies for customizing the components of Michigan’s crisis system, so they meet the needs of all Michiganders in particular crisis call lines. This position will also provide subject matter expertise to strengthen call lines, particularly 988. Duties and Responsibilities: • Research and provide expertise on call line operation to improve the quality of crisis lines under the Crisis and Stabilization Section. • Oversee quality improvement of call line operations through review of crisis line metrics and audits. • Develop and advise on the implementation of strategies for the customization of crisis center components to meet the needs of all Michiganders. • Provide project management for the execution of the development of training for crisis staff. • Represent MDHHS at various stakeholder meetings as required by the Section Manager. • Provide technical and subject matter expertise to all stated strategic initiatives. • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant of MPHI projects, and represent the best interest of MDHHS, BPHASA, and MPHI at all times. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Health Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Work, Business Administration, or another concentration related to the duties and responsibilities of the assigned project. Education related to public/behavioral health administration preferred. Experience: Three-to-five years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in public health administration (or related field); public/behavioral health care service delivery; policy and program development; project management; strategic planning; budgeting; public (including federal) grant and contract oversight and coordination; behavioral health integration; health information technology systems and associated data; analysis of policies, procedures, regulations, and laws pertinent to public/behavioral health; oversight of multiple and sometimes competing initiatives, leading small and large groups or meetings of subject matter experts, and a record of successful project implementation. Skills and Knowledge: • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Michigan’s populations in relation to policy and program development. • Advanced knowledge of Michigan’s health care delivery system, specifically Michigan’s specialty behavioral health care system, including Medicaid and other delivery systems. • Knowledge of Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans and Community Mental Health Services Programs. • Advanced knowledge of issues related to inpatient psychiatric care and community-based alternatives to inpatient psychiatric care. • Advanced oral and written communication skills related to program development, administration, and management. • Knowledge of behavioral health crisis models and programs. • Knowledge of Medicaid program policy, federal and state statutes impacting the delivery of behavioral health care services, and an understanding of the role that lawmakers and administrators play in the execution of Michigan’s public behavioral health system. • Advanced skill in project management, including the use of all necessary software necessary to execute stated duties and responsibilities (includes the suite of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). • Ability to meet competing deadlines. Strong sense of intellectual curiosity and high aptitude to learn a complex and perpetually evolving health care system. • Ability to develop professional relationships virtually and in person, engaging in professional written and oral correspondence. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time.
