We are currently seeking a Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our US-based law firm client. The ideal candidate will possess substantial knowledge and experience in criminal law and will assist attorneys in various stages of criminal defense cases.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and client meetings by organizing case files and conducting legal research.
Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, and correspondence relevant to criminal defense cases.
Review and summarize police reports, witness statements, and other evidence to prepare for case analysis.
Manage and maintain the office's case management system, ensuring all documents are filed and organized appropriately.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts as needed to gather information or schedule meetings.
Assist in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial materials.
Conduct legal research to assist attorneys in case strategy and development.
Assist with case management, billing, and invoicing as necessary.
Requirements
An Associate's degree or comparable experience in a legal environment.
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a paralegal, particularly in the field of criminal defense.
In-depth knowledge of criminal law and relevant legal terminology.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research applications.
Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
Proficient in English.
Familiarity with US criminal law at both state and federal levels.
At least one year of experience in a law office.
Effective writing skills.
Experience with CLIO Manage software is advantageous.
Customer service skills.
Capability to perform under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Experience with case management software is a PLUS
