About the position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Cost Analyst/Applied Mathematician (Experienced and/or Senior) to join the Space and Launch division in El Segundo, CA. This role is pivotal in supporting the development of parametric cost estimates, Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs), and enhancements to cost models. The selected candidate will engage in technical data collection and analysis, contributing to the overall cost analysis objectives of the organization. This position is hybrid, requiring some onsite work at the designated location, and is eligible for employee referral. In this role, the candidate will lead the design of cost models, dashboards, metrics, and reports using standard technologies and methodologies. They will engage with technical focal points to assess the cost impacts of both current and new technologies through thorough data collection and analysis. The candidate will independently determine and develop mathematically sound approaches to support cost estimates and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. They will also utilize programming and SQL skills to deliver recommendations to senior leadership, frequently interacting with inter-organizational personnel and external customers to provide solutions to complex technical issues. The responsibilities include interpreting and formulating problems in mathematical or computational terms, developing algorithms, assisting with mathematical research, and contributing to research proposals. The candidate will influence colleagues and customers to adopt mathematical tools and processes, as well as code, test, and maintain mathematical software tools. This position requires a strong foundation in quantitative fields and a proven track record in cost analysis and statistical evaluation.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields).

• 3+ years of experience with estimating techniques and relationships used in practical application (e.g. cost models, cost estimating relationships).
,
• 3+ years of experience in running statistical analysis on large datasets, drawing conclusions from analyses, and presenting findings.

• 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
