Controller - SaaS (remote)
A high-growth SaaS company is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting function during a pivotal stage of scale. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong accounting business partner who has experience supporting rapid growth, building scalable processes, and operating within a recurring-revenue business model. Partnering closely with the VP, Finance & CFO, this role is based in Manhattan.
Candidates outside of the tri-state area are encouraged to apply, however they must be willing to travel to New York once a month.
• *About the Controller role
• *Key responsibilities:
• Mentor and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Partner with other departments to align financial operations with broader business objectives.
• Spearhead initiatives to implement automated processes that enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead accounting, tax, and financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Develop technical accounting memos, policies, and desktop procedures to clarify and streamline processes across the organization.
• Oversee closing processes, including consolidations, preparing financial statements, and delivering reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure timely external audits, maintain an effective control environment, and manage tax filings.
• Manage and oversee transfer pricing policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimize tax strategies.
• Continuously assess and enhance financial workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
• *Key requirements:**
• 10-15 years in accounting or a similar financial environment, with technology/start-up experience preferred.
• Big 4 experience and CPA designation essential.
• Proficient in establishing automated processes to enhance team effectiveness and minimize errors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; reliable and responsive to all forms of communication.
• Proven ability to manage projects, build cross-functional relationships, and drive initiatives to successful completion.
