Contract Attorney - Civil Litigation ( Remote )
Direct Counsel is partnering with a growing litigation firm based in Los Angeles (Koreatown / Mid-Wilshire) seeking a Contract Attorney to provide immediate, as-needed civil litigation support. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal writer looking for flexible, fully remote work without court obligations.
About the Role
This position is focused entirely on civil litigation drafting and research. You’ll work directly with firm leadership to support active matters on a project-by-project basis, with no minimum hour requirement.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft answers and responsive pleadings
• Prepare and respond to written discovery
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda
• Provide general litigation support on civil matters
Note: This role is strictly back-end support — no depositions or court appearances required.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong background in civil litigation (required)
• Proven experience with:
• Drafting pleadings (especially answers)
• Discovery (drafting & responses)
• Legal research and writing
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work quickly
• Familiarity with California litigation practices, including drafting, citing, and responding to discovery under California law
Bar Admission:
• Attorneys licensed in any U.S. state are welcome to apply
• Must be comfortable working within California legal standards and procedures
Practice Background:
• Civil litigation experience is non-negotiable
• Criminal law experience is not required (the firm is open to training if needed)
Work Arrangement
• ✅ Fully Remote
• ⏱️ Flexible, as-needed hours
• Workload may vary week to week
• No guaranteed hours or minimum commitment
Location Flexibility:
• Open to candidates nationwide
• Must have a secure remote setup and availability that reasonably aligns with the firm’s schedule
Compensation
• $60-$65/hour, depending on experience and quality of work
