Overview This is a Part-time, Remote role located in San Diego, for a Human Resources Consulting Manager. Strategic Partner: Consulting HR managers guide leadership teams on workforce planning, organizational design, and HR strategy to align people operations with business goals. Compliance Expert: They ensure adherence to labor laws, wage regulations, and employment standards, reducing risk and avoiding costly penalties. Talent & Culture Builder: They design recruitment strategies, onboarding programs, and performance management systems to strengthen employee engagement and retention. Flexible Resource: Unlike in-house HR managers, consultants provide scalable support—ideal for growing businesses that aren’t ready to staff a full HR department. Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures tailored to client needs. • Advise on hiring, training, and workforce development strategies. • Conduct audits of HR practices to identify gaps and risks. • Support conflict resolution, employee relations, and disciplinary processes. • Guide compensation and benefits planning. • Provide change management and organizational development support • Facilitate daily HR Transactional Processes Experience • Proven experience in human resources management or a related leadership role within a fast-paced environment. • Extensive knowledge of California employment & labor law, FMLA regulations, OSHA standards, and workers' compensation procedures. • Demonstrated success in talent acquisition, sourcing strategies (HR sourcing), and utilizing ATS platforms like Taleo or iCIMS for recruitment processes. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences including senior leadership. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail; adept at process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or related field. • Master’s degree (MBA, HR, or Organizational Development) preferred for strategic consulting roles. • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR or equivalent are highly valued. Professional Experience • 5+ years of progressive HR management experience, ideally across multiple industries. • 1+ years of prior consulting, fractional HR, or project-based HR work showing adaptability and client-facing skills. Demonstrated expertise in: • Compliance management (CA labor law, wage/hour, benefits). • Talent acquisition & onboarding programs. • Employee relations & conflict resolution. • Performance management & organizational development. • HRIS experience (e.g., Paylocity, Workday, ADP). Specialized Skills • Compliance expertise: Strong knowledge of CALIFORNIA employment law, risk mitigation, and audits. • Systems orientation: Skilled in HRIS workflows and reporting. • Toolkit design: Ability to create branded policies, onboarding resources, and modular HR frameworks. • Communication: Translating complex HR/insurance/financial concepts into client-friendly language. Consulting-Specific Experience • Client engagement: Building trust, tailoring solutions, and presenting recommendations. • Project management: Delivering HR initiatives on time and within scope. • Flexibility: Adapting to diverse organizational cultures and industries.
